“Prove them Wrong”

I was at a high school a while ago and was walking about looking for the bathroom. While I was walking I went through a large entryway from one room to another and across the top was three words, “Prove Them Wrong”. I’m guessing there were a number of kids in that school that had been told they wouldn’t amount to anything, so that seemed like a very encouraging statement.

I find it interesting how many people will tear someone down because they become successful. It has become a bad thing to be incredibly wealthy, even if you hire a bunch of people, give money to the poor, and came by it through hard work. I guess people just feel like your tearing them down if you are successful. I’ve seen the same thing in schools, both from the students and from the parents, towards those that are being successful at the school. No one is supposed to excel, as if them excelling takes something away from the other kids. That sign speaks directly against that type of thinking, and I think that’s a very good thing.

So as you proceed through life, look at all the people that are saying you’ll never accomplish what you want, and “PROVE THEM WRONG”.
